More Than Meets the Eye-ACIM Lesson 3

Writer's picture: Estelle KristyEstelle Kristy

I do not understand anything I see in this room [on this street, from this window, in this place].

This is another of the Whaaaaatttt??!! variety ACIM (A Course in Miracles) Lessons.

You might be thinking-of course I know this chair is a chair. And I totesdally understand what it is for-the sitting. This may be a bit confusing when looking at a chair. But what about a person?

Shaka Senghor was only 13 years old when he got into the drug trade. By 19 he was a convicted murder who spent a good deal of time in solitary confinement.

One day he received a letter from the Godmother of the man he had killed. The man had a family. A young son. Despite this, the woman chose to send him love and forgiveness instead of perpetuating hate.

The letter changed his life.

Shaka Senghor became a motivational speaker, author, activist, and respected man of change.

It all began with someone willing to take a se

cond look. To see beyond what they thought they understood about a seeming murderer and convicted felon.

This is all Lesson 3 asks us to do today. To take another look.

To be open to the possibility there may be more than meets the eye to the people and circumstances we encounter.

Here’s to letting go of the obvious in favor of the miracle that can be.
